Football Championship Concludes with Colorful Events

Young Eleven Sambat clinches victory with 1-0 win; thousands witness closing ceremony

The 60-day-long first Tehsil Matta Football Championship 2024 was successfully concludes in Matta Tehsil of District Swat on Friday.

This inter-divisional tournament was organized by the Tehsil Football Academy (TFO), with 108 football teams participating. In the final match of the championship, young Eleven Sambat defeated Ittehad Alladand 1-0, sealing a decisive victory. Thousands of spectators witnessed the closing ceremony and final match of the two-month-long football championship at the Shuhada Monument Football Stadium in Matta.

The concluding event was attended by Mr. Sardar Khan, former member of the Provincial Assembly, Maqsood Ali Khan, former District Sports Chairman, Bakht Zada, DSP Matta Circle, Manzoor Ali Khan, and Qaimos Khan.

On this occasion, Mr. Maqsood Ali Khan emphasized the importance of sports activities, saying that he would continue to facilitate athletes as he had before. “During my tenure, I organized sports galas and tournaments, and I will ensure that they are sustained so local talent is not wasted,” Mr. Khan expressed his devotion to athletes.

“Being engaged in such healthy activities is not only beneficial for physical fitness but also protects youth from drug addiction,” said Bakht Zada, the DSP of Matta Tehsil, adding that parents should encourage their children to actively participate in sports activities.

Ubaid Ullah, one of the spectators, said that it was an excellent source of entertainment and enjoyment, emphasizing the importance of organizing similar activities in the future. “Organizing such events at the local level can help discover and identify new talent, potentially leading to national and international success,” he said.

At the end of the event, Rs. 150,000 were awarded to the winning team, while Rs. 100,000 were given to the runner-up team. Additionally, shields and medals were distributed among the athletes.
